North Ferriby Parish Council
North Ferriby Outdoor Bowling Club

The once very successful North Ferriby Bowls Club has been depleted over the years – to the extent that, at the beginning of this 2016 season, there seemed little chance that it could continue. With just 14 players, there seemed no alternative other than to close this long-standing village facility. Fortunately 3 new members joined.

I cannot believe how much I enjoy playing. I could not have imagined how exciting bowls could be. We have had some brilliant games, winning against much bigger clubs, but also enjoying some of our less successful games. Always meeting lovely people and making new friends.

The perception is that this is an old man’s game. It is correct that many players are pensioners, being in the fortunate position to be able to afford the time to play.

We meet several players who are in their 80’s and have played for over 30 years. I would love to be as good as them in 30 years’ time!

We train on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. Competitive matches are on Saturday afternoons and Monday evenings.

On lovely days there are few better ways to spend leisure time in the fresh air.
Please give some thought to joining. If you would like more information, do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you.
